Permanent Sheet Piling – Honeycombe Beach, Bournemouth, UK

Project Overview
To enable Barratt Homes to build a prestigious housing development, overlooking the sea, at Honeycombe Beach, Boscombe vertical excavations into the hillside were required. Anchored sheet piles were needed to support the retained earth.
Project Overview
Anchors were installed using a large machine mounted hydraulic hammer, proof loaded to 190kN, and locked at working loads between from 120kN to 160kN. The anchoring provided lateral restraint to counteract overturning moments on the sheet piling. Finally, a facing wall was constructed to give the structure a more attractive finish.
