Retaining Wall – Liddes, Switzerland

Switzerland Flag

Project Overview

The retaining wall running along the front of this private house had shown increasingly noticeable signs of movement over time. A cost effective solution was required to stabilise the wall and stop any future overturning.

Solution

Platipus Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEA®) were a perfect solution for this restricted access project located in the Swiss Alps. The installation team of Anteq SA excavated a small trench behind the wall to allow anchors to be driven from above with a mini-excavator. The wire tendon was then threaded through small pre-drilled holes to allow the anchors to be proof tested (25kN), loadlocked and terminated against the outside of the wall.

Anchor System: S8 cast iron anchor c/w 6m x 8mmø stainless steel wire, 200mm square load plate & wedge grip.
