A slip on this railway embankment left the Brighton Line vulnerable and imposed a temporary speed restriction.
Immediate action was critical to prevent further erosion of the embankment and protect the railway line above.
The project involved stabilising a 22-metre stretch of embankment, four metres high with a steep 60° slope, alongside limited access.
The solution involved installing 40 Platipus Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEA®) to secure a reinforced geomat across the surface. Each anchor was driven by hand through hard strata to an embedment depth of six meters.
This project demonstrates the power of fast and reliable ground anchoring solutions. By combining innovative anchoring technology with rapid deployment, the entire stabilisation process was completed in just one week. Thus, protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring the Brighton Line could remain fully operational.
