Moving large rootballs is not without its difficulties, and large machinery.
The historic space of the Union Terrace Gardens in Aberdeen was set to be transformed into an inclusive and accessible area, allowing for community events, improved safety and boosting footfall.
A delicate balance was struck between preserving the site’s history and adapting it for modern use. The historic graded banks, planted areas, and essential structures were reworked to create a generous, open, and welcoming environment.
The vision included planting 91 semi to fully mature trees, requiring a variety of Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems, but first, to get them into place. This was achieved using a mobile crane and telehandlers to manoeuvre the trees and position them.
Stay tuned for part 2 to see how they were securely anchored using Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems.
