Anchored Sheet Piling on the Hertford Union Canal

See how Platipus Anchors can prevent the overturning of your retaining structures.

Sheet piling is a common sight along canal towpaths, stabilising riverbanks and protecting waterways. However, in this project, a brick sewer beneath the canal prevented sheet piles from being driven deep enough to resist overturning.

With heavy machinery unable to access the site, 20 Platipus Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEA®) were driven by hand to a depth of 5m. This approach ensured the sheet piling was securely supported – quickly, effectively, and without compromising the existing infrastructure.
