Project Overview

The Liverpool Waterfront has been extensively redeveloped over the years and is fast becoming a tourist destination with the Beatles Story, Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum and the Museum of Liverpool – all within a stone’s throw of one another. But this would not be a waterfront without the River Mersey, the network of historic docks and the canal link together with the famous architecture of the Liver Building.

Integral to this development was a selection of 90 maritime tolerant trees planted all along the front. Being very exposed to the River Mersey it was important that the trees could be anchored against the storms coming in from the Irish Sea. Platipus worked closely with the Landscape Architect, Civil Engineer and Landscape Contractor completing several anchor tests across the site to ensure the correct tree anchoring system was selected for the soil conditions. This proved to be the correct solution with all the trees staying straight and true.
