Jumeirah Bay Island – Dubai

Platipus Anchors - Flag of UK

Project Overview

Jumeirah Bay Island is built in the shape of a huge sea horse on 6 million sq. ft. of re-claimed land which is connected to the mainland by a 300m long road bridge. The exclusive new mixed-use development was designed with large palm trees lining the roads and streets and the entrance marked with large Baobab trees from Australia.

Cracknell Landscape Architects specified Platipus Deadman Fixing Systems with Plati-Mat to secure the trees and palms with 4LEG systems providing extra security to the large Baobabs. This allowed the trees and palms to be planted in shallow planting areas without disturbing the buried services in the vicinity of the roads. The Plati-Mat rootball protection mats distributed the load generated by the anchor system evenly across the rootballs so that trees are safely anchored even against strong on-shore winds. WTB Middle East supplied the Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems, the installation tools and provided on-site installation support.
